The
new park comprises a huge, sophisticated playground the only one of
its kind in the city. Visitors here can enjoy the park's facilities,
benches and expansive grassy lawns. The inauguration will be held
tomorrow in the presence of KKL-JNF Board Chairman Yehiel Leket and
Kiryat Malakhi Mayor Motti Malka. Two additional ceremonies will
take place. At 12: 00
am KKL-JNF will award financial grants totaling NIS150,000 to 54
needy families residents of Kiryat Malahki. At 14:00 hours financial
grants will also be awarded to residents of Merhavim. Both
ceremonies will be attended by KK:-JNF Board Chairman Yehiel Leket,
Kiryat Malahki Mayor Motti Malka and Merhavim Regional Council
chairman Avner Mori.
During
the past five years KKL-JNF invested more than NIS500 million in the
Negev including, among other things, municipal parks in Beersheba
and in development towns in the south including Dimona, Mitzpeh
Ramon, Ofakim, Sderot and Yeruham.
"One
of the core factors in establishing the park," said Leket
"was our wish to improve the quality of life in adjoining
neighborhoods in the area and to present their residents
with a recreational green belt where it would be pleasant to
relax and spend time each day close to home."
